YouTube counts the viewing if the user has followed all 4 rules:
1. Screen size
Screen size when viewing is one of the important factors. The platform counts viewing only if the video takes up 50% or more of the screen. It doesn't matter what device you're viewing from. Even if the video is viewed to the end, but the screen size is less than 50%, the viewing does not count. Such limits are set by YouTube because it's assumed that the user may have been reading a comment or listening to audio while watching.
2. Playback method
The platform counts views only if the user clicked on the video via search or using the "Recommendations" section. Automatically playing a video after the video has finished playing is not counted as viewing.
3. Viewing duration
YouTube's algorithms are set up so that your video watch time is measured in seconds. Analysts note that 5-10 seconds is enough for the platform to make your viewing count.
4. Audio playback
No matter what device the viewer uses to watch the video, YouTube only counts the view if the audio is on.
⚠️YouTube also carefully counts IP addresses to fight cheating.⚠️
